Created in 1962, during a prolific period when Picasso was deeply engaged with printmaking, particularly linocuts — a medium he had embraced enthusiastically in his later years.

He collaborated closely with printer Hidalgo Arnéra in Vallauris, mastering the complex process of reduction printing (where all colors are printed from the same block, successively carved away).

"Grande Tête" reflects Picasso's ongoing obsession with the female form, identity, and dual viewpoints, wrapped into a striking modernist visual language.

Part of his broader exploration of myth, muse, and metamorphosis in the early 1960s.
